I Figured Out How To Wear A Midi Dress
Growing up I hated wearing anything that made me look to girly. Skirts and dresses were the bane of my existence as a kid. Okay, maybe I’m being a little extra, but I think you get the picture.
The irony of it all now, is that I’m so crushing on dresses, long and short. But I have a small issue… I’m short! Like 5’ short. So wearing long dresses don’t always work out for me. However, I figured it out guys. My solution… heels (insert loud sigh.) I know, I know! I turned by back on wearing heels and sorta denounced ever wearing them again. But, I had a change of heart.
Back story - I purchased this dress last March because of its uniqueness. Everything about this dress, the mix print factor - the colors - the details, screamed buy me and I did. Once it arrived I was super excited until I tried it on. It looked horrible (my husband even made fun of me in it.) It wasn’t flattering at all. I considered returning it but decided to save for a client photoshoot.
After over a year of hanging in my closet, I thought about selling it since I hadn’t worn it yet. Boy am I happy I didn’t. This dress was just to oh-mazing to let go. One day while milling around in my closet, I pulled out this dress and while I was holding it up, I remembered I had these super dope black and white boots that would compliment this dress perfectly. The look came together wonderfully - check it out here.
The lesson learned here guys is that wearing heels with a longer length dress make me appear taller. It gives me the extra length I need so that I don’t end up looking like a walking piece of cloth.
To all my short shorties out there, I see and feel you. Also, I hope you found this post amusing and a little helpful.
